The Artful Journey

I had to open this blog when my other one quit working. Never could figure out why. See my previous entries on http://www.theartfuljourney.blogspot.com.

At my church they try to give all the childrens ministry teachers a few months off durng the summer, then we teach for 10 months straight. I was not looking forward to going back this time (I've been teaching toddlers for 14 years!) and was somewhat distressed to have summer come and gone. The first Sunday back they also promoted the children, so I had all new students aged 2 1/2 to 3, one was boo-hooing the whole hour, and one was just wild, and the other 8 were all potty training but not sure of the whole thing, so every few minutes one of them was needing to go to the restroom (and some of them went 4 times!!), and when the psarents finally came an hour and a half later (two parents were having too much fun to come and pick up their children, apparently), I was about ready to pull my hair out! So the next Sunday, as you can imagine, I was NOT looking forward to going. I could hardly concentrate on the message (probably something about suffering making you grow in faith!), and I went to my class and had 8 children who were perfect angels, and I was "on", the Bible story coming to life and the children participating and laughing and hugging me and crying because they had to go home! What a difference a week makes!!
