The Artful Journey

I had to open this blog when my other one quit working. Never could figure out why. See my previous entries on http://www.theartfuljourney.blogspot.com.

My kids are into anime and for Christmas they ordered several items that had to be shipped from Japan. These packages were always so interesting with the Japanese characters all over the wrapping. I thought I would put one in my journal.
This cute little piece of artwork is from my husband's grandchild. I thought it was so cute. I got Fiona Apple's new cd for Christmas and I love it. I wasn't real happy with this spread, especially the left side of this page. The rest of it is okay.
I little boy in my Sunday School class gave me this little felt tree he made. he was so excited! On Christmas Eve we had children's church (which we usually only have adult church, but the children are welcome, of course), and WOW! Were they all hyper!
This is some cut-outs from my wrapping paper.

This spread is one of the prettiest ones I've done lately, but it didn't scan well. I used my new alphabet stamps, which I love. Unfortunately, I love ALL alphabet stamps, my one weakness! I cut down two pages to reduce bulk, and I like the way it came out, with the stamped "December" and the little topiary pasted on.

This was just a beautiful, beautiful day I was enjoying. Listening to music and playing in my journal with a nice warm fire keeping me toasty warm. It's a day I will always remember. The kids had been up late so they all slept in, giving me a rare morning all to myself!

This was a fun spread, although it's not too attractive. The picture is of me in my junior year of high school (approximately 34 years ago, yikes!). Movie stubs from Harry Potter's latest. it was great!

Here are some new pages. I'm finally getting this scanning bit down. I'm a slow learner!

This is a spread ready for journaling. The colors are a little softer than shown here, I kind of over-did it as I tried to make the colors true to the actual page.
This is another spread ready for journaling, and, once again, I corrected the colors too much. The actual page is very vibrant, but this is a little too bright. Maybe down one shade would be correct. Still, I love these spreads where they are two-colored with little magazine cut-outs pasted on. A great way to use up some of the little bits and pieces I always seem to amass!

I used some pretty paper to cover up a painted page I wasn't happy with, now I love it!

I've been saving that "November" cut-out for a year! Finally, I got to use it!

I love this red spread. I half-heartedly mixed some gold paint in with the red and it gave a really nice shimmer to the page. I like the richness of it.

Not my favorite, but I do love the Garfield cartoon. Reminds me of my son. He's not lazy, but it sounds like something he would say for a laugh.

I have been trying to do better at trusting God in my life. He has been so good to me, and I get upset with myself when I make Him too small.

In my Yahoo group there is a lady that does these great color blocked pages plus another creative soul who uses the stickers from her produce in her pages. I loved these two ideas and tried my hand at them in this spread.

I was so excited when I learned that Calvin and Hobbes was going to be republished in my papaer! Now I wait in anticipation for the Sunday paper so I can see the big colorful reprints of the boy who reminds me so much of my son.

Wishing for fall. When the temperatures start getting up there, I like to do a page that makes me think of crisp fall air and beautiful leaves!!

My only addiction!! Even my husband feeds it - he will bring home a magazine for me if JD is on the cover, or appears inside!

A wonderful night out listening to my daughter's boyfriend's band. We had so much fun. The coffee house was a very nice and warm place to be on a Friday night!
